This Privacy Policy applies to the activities of Climate Change & Business Centre Limited ABN 88 123 990 527 (Climate and Business). It explains how we handle personal information and comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988. Your provision of your personal information constitutes your consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Collecting information about you
We collect personal information from participants to our seminars or conferences and other individuals who contact us with respect to our business.

The main types of information we collects are contact details such as name, company, title, email address, mailing address and telephone number.

We collect most of this information directly from individuals, such as when they register or contact us. The personal information we collect may be provided on forms filled out by individuals, face to face meetings, e-mail messages, telephone conversations and information provided by a third party. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that contact.

2. Using and disclosing your personal information
Our purpose in collecting information about you is to provide you with services that you request, register you for conferences or seminars at your request, to update you on upcoming seminars or conferences and to provide you with information associated with our business. We do not routinely disclose personal information, except to:
• our partners including Point Carbon (based in Oslo);
• delegates of seminars and conferences that you attend; and
• any sponsors or media partners associated with any seminars and conferences that you attend.

Except as set out in this policy, we will not otherwise use or disclose any information about you without your consent, unless:
• required by law;
• the assets and operations of Climate and Business are transferred to a third party; or
• to protect our rights or property or the rights, property or personal safety of our employees, agents, other seminar participants or any member of the public.

When you provide your personal information to us, we will give you the choice as to whether or not you wish to receive further information from us, our joint partner and/or any sponsors or media partners associated with our seminars and conferences. If you indicate that you do not wish to receive these, we will not contact you further for these purposes. Please allow 28 days for your request to be processed.

3. Service providers
Like many businesses, we use a range of service providers to help us maximise the quality and efficiency of our operations. This means that individuals and organisations outside of us, such as mail houses and professional conference organisers, will sometimes have access to personal information held by us and may use it on behalf of us. We require our service providers to adhere to strict privacy guidelines and not to keep this information or use it for any unauthorised purposes.

4. We will not 'spam' you
We may contact you at the email or other address which you provide to us in order to:
• Provide you with updated information about our upcoming seminars or conferences; or
• Provide you with other information about other developments, seminars or conferences which you may have an interest in.

If you are receiving promotional information from us and do not wish to receive this information any longer, you may remove your name from our list either by e-mail at secretariat@climateandbusiness.com or by mail at PO Box 375, Collaroy, NSW 2097, Australia and asking to be removed from our mailing list. Please allow 28 days for this request to be processed.

You may elect to receive communications from our conference sponsors or supporters. We are not responsible for the subsequent conduct of these third parties with respect to your personal information. The privacy policies of these parties will govern their collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. If you no longer wish to receive information from these third parties, you may contact them directly.

5. Our website privacy practices
We sometimes use cookie technology on our website to provide information and services to web site visitors. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disk for record keeping purposes and are a necessary part of facilitating online transactions. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies. Cookies are useful to estimate our number of members and determine overall traffic patterns through our website.

6. You can access the information we keep about you

Our file of your information will usually be made available to you within 14 days. 

7. Changing and deleting the information we have about you
If at any time you wish to change personal information that is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us by e-mail at secretariat@climateandbusiness.com or by mail at PO Box 375, Collaroy, NSW 2097, Australia and we will amend this record. If you wish to have your personal information deleted, please let us know in the same manner as referred to above and we will take all reasonable steps to delete it unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.

We will endeavour to take all reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we hold about you, and to keep this information accurate and up to date. Your information is stored on secure servers that are protected in controlled facilities. We require our employees and data processors to respect the confidentiality of any personal information held by us.

Please note that in disclosing personal information to some of the recipients in accordance with section 2 above we may transfer personal information overseas. Your provision of personal information to us constitutes your consent to the transfer of your personal information overseas in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
