The Climate Change & Business Centre is a not for profit organisation operating in Australia, New Zealand and the wider region. Its primary objective is to educate and inform business and the public about climate change and the risks and opportunities it presents.
This objective is achieved through a number of activities undertaken by the Centre including:
The Centre was established by Gary Taylor, Chairman and Executive Director of the New Zealand Environmental Defence Society in 2002 in response to the need for business to be engaged in the climate change debate. Prior to the centre’s establishment, the debate had been focused on debating the science with a small number of businesses calling for government policy to tackle climate change adaptation. There was a perceived need for business interests across the Tasman to communicate on climate change response, in order to increase the awareness of the risk management issue into mainstream business planning.
The Climate Change & Business Centre’s primary activity to date has been the organisation of the Australia – New Zealand Climate Change & Business Conference Series.
