Australian Carbon Biosequestration Initiative Ltd (Big Green Umbrella) is a not for-profit limited company. ACBI’s Board and the Advisory team bring together a diverse range of specialists who are committed to the concept of offsetting CO2 through tree planting.

Widely known as “Big Green Umbrella”, ACBI acts as a broker between emitters, landholders and others. Big Green Umbrella holds the intellectual property over an innovative set of carbon contracts that links emitters, landholders and planters into its offset system.

Big Green Umbrella designs abatement products for developers, the construction industry, architects, the automotive industry, vehicle fleets, fuel companies, coal-fired power stations, local, state and federal governments, manufacturers, large energy consumers, mining companies, major events and conferences, CBD traffic managers and public transport.

Our planting partner is Greening Australia, the nation’s largest and most successful indigenous tree planter.

ACBI is the first organisation in Australia to have a carbon contract based on the 2005 AGO template. In October 2005, ACBI sold its first “carbon credits” to the Department for Environment and Heritage SA and service station chain South Australian Farmers Fuels (SAFF). ACBI has exchanged contracts with a large CBD property holder and is at an advanced stage of negotiations with a motor vehicle manufacturer. All these offsets are world firsts.
